This mesmerically simple piece is set in the language of the Chiquitos Indians. It is very effective as a recessional piece with all the musicians leaving the stage one by one. This piece features dance patterns of African origin in the form of the ‘guaracha’, a dance still popular in Cuba. This piece from Mexico is one of the first to have ever been published in the Americas (in 1631). It is part of a Ritual, marked for use ‘in processions as they enter churches’.
