Ms. J. Harrison-Place,It was a wonderful concert and the choir sounded fabulous. I particularly liked hearing some items I didn't know – indeed, by composers I'd never even heard of. What wonderful discoveries. Thank you!

The Choir
The Serlo Consort, a professional chamber choir, was formed in the year 2000 by its Director, Kit Perona-Wright, as part of his post-graduate study of English Cathedral Music at Exeter University. It therefore takes its name from the very first Dean of Exeter Cathedral - ‘Serlo’ (12th Century).
Aims
Its aim is to perform to, and promote choral music of, the highest possible standard – both much loved-repertoire and oft-neglected or undiscovered works. This encompasses every possible genre of the art form - as we firmly believe that different types of music speak powerfully to different types of people.
Our aim is to perform both much-loved repertoire and oft-neglected or undiscovered works. These include programmes such as Renaissance music interspersed with saxophone improvisations, and music from Latin America including brass and percussion. These are balanced up with many of the great works from the choral repertory, such as - Handel ‘Messiah’, Bach ‘St. John Passion’, Rossini ‘Petite Messe Solonnelle’, and many more!
Performances
After its many initial large-scale performances in the South-West region (Exeter Cathedral, Buckfast Abbey, Axminster Festival, etc), the group’s performances are beginning to expand right across the country as its reputation builds, and as most of its members are now located around London. It performs for festivals, such as the Cambridge Early Music Festival and the Music in Quiet Places Festival (Lincolnshire), and for music clubs and societies around the country.
Serlo undertakes a varied and busy schedule of other events too, such as weddings (including high-profile ‘celebrity’ weddings - even covered in Hello Magazine!), corporate entertainment and theraputic work for the elderly. The choir were selected to record with Robin Gibb (Bee Gees) for his recent Christmas Carol album, and the choir has performed on primetime TV (Channel 4, Christmas Eve).
Our singers
Made up of around 20 professional singers, most of whom are widely active on the top professional choir/consort circuit, and its own instrumental chamber ensemble - the Serlo Consort undertakes a busy schedule of concerts, and a variety of other special events.
Becoming best known for its versatility, its intense, emotional performances contrasted with those of sheer excitement and exuberance, its inventive programming, and above all – the superb quality of performance, the Serlo Consort is fast making a big impact in the world of choral music!
