In the second of two concerts in association with the MBF, The Serlo Consort performs a beautiful programme of unaccompanied choral music in the wonderfully intimate venue that is The Lord Mayor’s Chapel, Bristol. We’d love to see you there..!
The Serlo Consort, in association with the MBF (Musicians Benevolent Fund), performs the first of two concerts with a varied programme of unaccompanied choral music to suit all tastes. Members of The Serlo Consort, led by the group’s Artistic Director’s - David McKee & Kit Perona-Wright, lead a workshop for GCSE and A-level students from schools in/around Norwich. This will cover vocal technique, styles/periods of music and some of the ’set-works’ from their exam syllabus. This will take place in Norwich Cathedral (TBC), and exact details (timings, etc) can be obtained by contacting David (davidpjmckee@ntlworld.com or 01603 441188).
Any children 15-18 years of age welcome (but it would help if you are studying music!). It will be a fun, challenging and informative workshop - please come along!
The Serlo Consort, with its own instrumental ensemble, performed this seminal work to a very large, appreciative audience. Composed on a smaller scale than the St. Matthew Passion but no less powerful, it is a work full of beauty and emotion, with some of Bach’s best word painting. The soloists were: -

A festive evening of music not to be missed! The Serlo Consort will transport you through a plethora of different musical styles that composers have used over the centuries to celebrate the birth of the baby Jesus. We return to the glorious acoustic of St. John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood to perform our Christmas concert, and hope to see you there…..
There will be audience carols in addition to choir carols, the programme will be interspersed with seasonal readings (read by Philip Brooke), and the interval will give everyone the opportunity to have a glass of wine and a mince pie.
Composers will include Byrd, Victoria, Purcell, Vaughan Williams, Leighton, Warlock, Rutter and many more.

The Serlo Consort returned to this beautiful church with its wonderful acoustic to perform a powerful programme of emotive music for Lent through to Easter. A highlight for the choir was having the composer of The Souls of the Righteous, Geraint Lewis, in the audience.
